Inspector Morse plot

Morse is an intelligent bachelor with a romantic streak and good taste. He likes architecture, classical music and classic cars, but also a good glass of beer. He is also not always very tactical with his subordinate, adjutant Lewis. The university city of Oxford is the setting for their investigations into mysterious murder cases.

At the end of this season it becomes painfully clear how sad and small (the world of) Morse actually is. He can't give Lewis the respect he deserves and in so doing is throwing a possibly valuable friendship in the trash and he also needs to see an old case shattered fall, with deadly consequences. So it's not surprising that he will eventually drink himself to death. Yet he remains extremely sympathetic and interesting in other areas as well. And that's how it should be, with those eternal sleuths who (usually) solve the most difficult puzzles, but can be happy in their own lives that they find their way back 'home' every day...

Maybe a 9 is just too high, but I'll leave them for now.
