Humans plot
In a parallel present tense, the latest must-have gadget for any busy family is a so-called 'Synth'. A highly realistic human robot that changes the way humans live their lives. A family buys a new Synth in the hopes of reducing their household workload. However, they find out that living with a Synth has far-reaching consequences.

The first part of season 1 of the Swedish Real Humans (Äkta Människor, 2012-2014) was excellent. Hubots - humanized robots - make part of our lives more pleasant today by supporting us with all kinds of jobs. Such as cooking food, looking after the children or providing home care. Accessible science fiction, which is not very far away. And an interesting fact full of moral dilemmas.
The British-American remake of Äkta Människor, Humans (2015-2018) faithfully follows the original. Just like in Äkta Människor, Humans loses its conviction due to the thriller-like storyline about a group of discarded and fleeing hubots, called synths in Humans. This storyline feels forced. Less is more, as it turns out once again. Living with a hubot in the house is exciting enough.

The novelty wears off a bit this season. The series feels a bit superficial. It's nice that diversification and multiple storylines are started from more people, but there is simply too little space to do justice to each storyline, resulting in an overall feeling of superficiality. Urgency seems to be lacking, involvement with the viewer (at least me) is lacking, tension doesn't really work, everyone remains a bit of a flat character.
In short, way too many ideas without there being room to do them justice in these 8x40 minutes.
I do not get further than 3* for this season.
