Hof van Assisen plot
Councilor de Bruyne, a sympathetic quiet man in his fifties who comes from a traditional legal background, is the President of the Court. He leads a protected life without major ups and downs, which sometimes makes him seem a bit otherworldly. He remains polite in every situation and will not be intimidated or upset by anyone. He is, after all, the most powerful man in the room. The public prosecutor, Robert Sluys, is an embittered bachelor who lives for his work. Emotional testimonies alternate with hard pleadings. The jury is led in a search for the truth, with the final piece being acquittal or imprisonment.
