In Felicity we follow Felicity Porter (Keri Russell), a young lady from Palo Alto, California who was going to study pre-med at Stanford University. When the boy she had a crush on in her yearbook writes that he'd wanted to get to know her better, she decides to turn her life around and follow him to NYU. Her parents disagree and refuse to support her financially, so she stands on her own two feet in one fell swoop. We follow her four seasons come to full bloom and slowly conquer her place in the grown-up world.
The series Felicity is set during her 4 college years. The seasons are therefore called Freshman, Sophmore, Junior and Senior Year. Felicity Porter was the breakout role of Keri Russell who has become an established name in Hollywood. Scott Speedman, Amy Jo Johnson, Tangi Miller, Ian Gomez and Scott Foley also starred in the series. There was also a supporting role for Ali Landry. My childhood sweetheart liked to watch the series and that's why I learned something from it at the time. Recently during the lockdown, my current girlfriend, who had also watched the series before, wanted to watch the series again and I our three daughters watched. Although the series is still great to watch, it became subtly clear to me and my girlfriend that we are 'old' after all, thanks to the scene where it was said that Noel was going to work for a .com company, then something new. Our daughters were blue with laughter at this but my girlfriend and I looked at each other like a farmer with a toothache. Almost as painful as a friend of my youngest stepdaughter's a few years ago when she saw us playing Scrabble and said, "Hey, a board game from Wordfeud."
Felicity is an excellent coming of age series that despite being a bit dated in some respects today and in season 4 it flies a bit out of hand with that alternate timeline stuff is.
