Watched the first three episodes. Beautifully captured, enjoy images of Hong Kong. Different storylines that sometimes touch each other. Great entertainment.

Nicole Kidman marathon 57#

Soap opera, boring, not impressive or compelling

What a long struggle this was to get through. The first episode didn't interest me much, little to nothing happened. I thought, that will come, it has to build up. The second episode the same, the third or fourth episode has a bit more to it, but still nothing interesting. And finally I continued for episode 5 (the horror) and then episode 6 where nothing happens either. Episode 5 in particular is terrible. Suddenly a lot of new characters are shown and walked through. Why only in episode 5? I'm not waiting for new characters so late. It doesn't interest me.

This series could have easily been set anywhere else in the world, because the location is just not used well. You could have gone in so many directions with this. From au pairs who go to work in Hong Kong, who all go to work for different families in Hong Kong and where their lives cross. Or expats who go to live in Hong Kong and we follow them with their daily struggles with language, culture, customs, with their work, how to arrange things. So how it would be in real life if you suddenly decided to emigrate. Or rich housewives who have their own community in Hong Kong and try to make it there or something, but none of that. It's just foreign people in Hong Kong with three themes, cheating, a child who has gone missing and guilt. That's all that happens.

Boring as hell. It's a wonder I finished watching it. Not recommended.
