Between 1972 and 1978, thirty-three young men were abducted, murdered, and buried in a crawl space beneath their killer's house. And no one knew. For all those years. Why not? He was charming and funny. He had a good, typically American job. He was a community leader. He even volunteered to entertain sick children... dressed as a clown.

Als kijker word je hier min of meer aan het lijntje gehouden met overdreven drama zijplotjes Dat is iets waar je na 2 afleveringen al achterkomt, over Gacy zelf , zijn psyche , zijn methodes , hoe en waarom ? tja dat is blijkbaar totaal niet belangrijk . TO CATCH A KILLER , de brilliante versie met Brian dennehy als Gacy is superieur aan deze serie met name omdat Dennehy zo,n enge Gacy wist neer te zetten . Die film duurde 3 uur en wist de spanning op een sterke manier op te bouwen tot aan Gacy's arrestatie , deze serie doet hetzelfde maar dan in een uur gepropt zonder spanning , te gehaast en met een acteur die niet overtuigd als Gacy . Als dan aflevering 2 begint , begint ook het aan het lijntje houden , in plaats van Gacy uit te diepen en de gebeurtenissen te tonen krijgen we drama van de slachtoffers te zien die niks met Gacy zelf te maken hebben , natuurlijk het verplichte zoon conflict die gay is maar het niet aan zijn ouders kan vertellen , dit is al jarenlang zo'n cliche' irritant zijplot geworden en je zit als kijker niet te wachten op dit soort drama. je wilt weten wat gacy drijft waarom hij het doet , of in ieder geval iets maar de makers weigeren het onderwerp te behandelen , en dat terwijl de serie over Gacy gaat en zijn naam draagt maar tergelijkertijd dus ook weer niet , dat is eigenlijk misleidend .

TO CATCH A KILLER, the brilliant version with Brian Dennehy as Gacy is superior to this series especially because Dennehy managed to portray such a scary Gacy.

That film lasted 3 hours and managed to build up the tension in a strong way until Gacy's arrest, this series does the same but crammed into an hour without tension, too rushed and with an actor who is not convincing as Gacy.

When episode 2 begins, the stringing along begins. Instead of exploring Gacy and showing the events unfolding, we see the drama of the victims, who have nothing to do with Gacy himself. Of course, there's the obligatory conflict with the son who is gay but can't tell his parents. This has become such a cliché, irritating side plot for years, and as a viewer, you're not interested in this kind of drama. You want to know what drives Gacy, why he does it, or at least something about it, but the creators refuse to address the subject. This while the series is about Gacy and bears his name, but at the same time, it's not. That's actually misleading.

Niet goed, niet slecht. De afleveringen zijn te veel hetzelfde. Het acteerwerk is goed (Chemus, Luna, Ireland,..) maar de verhalen in elke aflevering zijn teveel hetzelfde. Persoonlijk vond ik The Ed Gein Story, Making a Murderer, The Jeffrey Dahmer Story en bijvoorbeeld The Lyle And Erik Menendez Story vele malen beter dan Devil In Disguise.

Not good, not bad. The episodes are too repetitive. The acting is good (Chemus, Luna, Ireland, etc.), but the stories in each episode are too repetitive. Personally, I found The Ed Gein Story, Making a Murderer, The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, and, for example, The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story far better than Devil in Disguise.
