Death of an Expert Witness plot

When Dr. Edwin Lorrimer, a forensic scientist working in a private lab, is found dead, Detective Chief Inspector Adam Dalgliesh is sent to investigate. There are several suspects: Clifford Bradley, Lorrimer's subordinate who despises him, Maxim Howarth, the new head of the lab, who is jealous of his sister's relationship with him, and Paul Middlemass, a colleague who had an argument with Lorrimer. When one of the suspects is also murdered, Dalgliesh discovers important information about the case.
