De Pooi is about the rise and fall of the merged bank ABN AMRO at the time of Rijkman Groenink, who took office in 2000 as the successor to CEO Jan Kalff. Rijkman Groenink is bringing the bank to the brink of collapse through an unscrupulous, ambitious course to get the bank into the top five of the largest international banks.
