Nicolas Winding Refn through and through, this atmospheric six-part crime series with a supernatural sauce, something that is both an advantage and a disadvantage at the same time. I enjoy the overly thick stylization and the wacky but fascinating characters, but the pace is very slow and many scenes (and sometimes even entire episodes) are really about nothing. Then Refn's previous series, Too Old To Die Young, was a lot better. Refn is so Refn here that he's almost become a parody of himself. Fortunately, the quality goes up considerably towards the end, so that the series does not eventually disappear into its own black hole.
