Een standaardpolitieserie maar wel goedgemaakt. Dat komt met name door een sterke cast met o.a. Tom Selleck(Magnum P.I.), Donnie Wahlberg(NKOTB) en Bridget Moynahan (I Robot). Je volgt de familie Reagan waarvan 3 generaties bij politie in New York zitten of zat. Frank Reagan(Snorremans) is hoofdcommissaris van NYC. Zijn vader Henry was ook commissaris maar inmiddels met pensioen. Zijn oudste zoon Danny(Wahlberg) is rechercheur en zijn jongste zoon Jamie is onlangs geüniformeerde agent geworden terwijl hij afgestudeerd was van Harvard Lawschool. Zijn dochter Erin heeft ook rechten gestudeerd en werkt bij het OM en dan was er ook nog middelste zoon Joe maar die is omgekomen tijdens werk voor aanvang van de show. De Reagans zijn een hechte familie en samen moeten ze het hoofd bieden aan allerlei werkgerelateerde maar ook allerhande familiare problemen. Het is allemaal vrij recht toe rechtaan maar dat geeft niet omdat de acteurs goed in hun rol zitten. Het is net een echte familie want ze kibbelen voorturend, vooral tijdens de etentjes maar desondanks schuiven ze toch iedere week weer aan. In voor en tegenspoed staan de Reagans er voor elkaar maar ook voor hun baan. Snorremans Selleck speelt zoals we van hem gewend zijn, de immer stoere cop zoals hij vaak speelde maar tegelijk ook de goede, warme vader zoals in Three men and a baby/little lady. Donnie Wahlberg toont dat hij een veelzijdiger acteur is dan broertje Marky Mark Wahlberg. De serie kijkt makkelijk weg omdat hij vlot loopt en ook erg spannend is.

A standard police series, but made up for it. This is mainly due to a strong cast including Tom Selleck (Magnum PI), Donnie Wahlberg (NKOTB) and Bridget Moynahan (I Robot). You follow the Reagan family of which 3 generations are or were in the New York police force. Frank Reagan (Snorremans) is NYC Chief of Police. His father Henry was also a commissioner but now retired. His oldest son Danny (Wahlberg) is a detective and his youngest son Jamie recently became a uniformed officer while graduating from Harvard Law School. His daughter Erin also studied law and works at the OM and then there was also middle son Joe but he died while working before the start of the show. The Reagans are a close-knit family and together they have to deal with all kinds of work-related as well as all kinds of family problems. It's all pretty straightforward, but that doesn't matter because the actors are good in their roles. It's like a real family because they bicker all the time, especially during the dinners, but nevertheless they join every week. For better or for worse, the Reagans stand by each other and their jobs. Snorremans Selleck plays as we are used to, the always tough cop as he often played, but at the same time also the good, warm father as in Three men and a baby/little lady. Donnie Wahlberg shows that he is a more versatile actor than brother Marky Mark Wahlberg. The series is easy to watch because it runs smoothly and is also very exciting.

Tom Selleck zal wel voor eeuwig in de herinnering voortleven als Magnum P.I., maar eigenlijk is dit z'n beste rol. Hij speelt de spilfiguur in een New Yorkse familie met "blauw bloed", in de betekenis dat verschillende leden bij de politie werken en dus een blauw uniform dragen. Hij heeft zich een zenuwtrekje aangemeten en een uitstraling van ernst, ervaring en vastberadenheid. Als commissaris doet hij zelf geen veldwerk meer, maar hij neemt wel beslissingen en moet omgaan met politici en op sensatie beluste journalisten. In elke aflevering staat één misdaad centraal, zoals een moord, een ontvoering of een aanslag. Danny, de oudste zoon, is de impulsieve rechercheur in burger die zich niet altijd aan het boekje houdt. Erin, de dochter die als jurist voor de openbaar aanklager werkt, houdt zich wel aan de regels, beducht voor procedurefouten. Tussen die twee kan het wel eens botsen. De jongste zoon Jamie werkt als wijkagent. Dat biedt mogelijkheden voor luchtige nevenplots. Als groentje wordt hij onder meer geconfronteerd met een graffitispuiter en met een verwarde eenzaat. Daarnaast wordt hij ook lid van een geheim genootschap binnen de politie, wat een rode draad oplevert die uitmondt in de seizoensfinale. De familie is een oase van rust te midden van een stad vol met criminaliteit. Het familiediner is het dagelijkse ritueel waarin vier generaties zaken nabespreken en conflicten bijleggen. Ondanks hun verschillende karakter trekken ze uiteindelijk aan hetzelfde zeil. Het is een knappe politieserie met goed acteerwerk, een afwisseling in locaties, en een evenwicht tussen dialoog en actie. Favoriete afleveringen: 1, 2, 3, 5, 15, 20.

Tom Selleck will probably be remembered forever as Magnum PI, but this is actually his best role. He plays the central figure in a New York family with "blue blood", in the sense that several members work for the police and therefore wear a blue uniform. He has acquired a nervous quirk and an aura of seriousness, experience and determination. As commissioner, he no longer does field work himself, but he does make decisions and has to deal with politicians and sensationalist journalists.

Each episode focuses on one crime, such as a murder, a kidnapping or an attack. Danny, the eldest son, is the impulsive plainclothes detective who doesn't always play by the book. Erin, the daughter who works as a lawyer for the public prosecutor, does play by the rules, wary of procedural errors. The two can sometimes clash.

The youngest son Jamie works as a local police officer. This offers opportunities for light-hearted subplots. As a rookie, he is confronted with a graffiti sprayer and a confused loner. He also becomes a member of a secret society within the police, which provides a common thread that culminates in the season finale.

The family is an oasis of peace in the middle of a city full of crime. The family dinner is the daily ritual in which four generations discuss cases and settle conflicts. Despite their different characters, they ultimately pull together. It is a clever police series with good acting, a variety of locations, and a balance between dialogue and action.
