This is a reboot of the wonderful Bergerac series from the eighties. A bit dated now, of course, but I grew up with it, and back then you didn't have the vast selection you do now.
This one is a lot worse, Molony doesn't have the charisma and qualities that John Nettles had as Jim Bergerac.
It's just not a gripping series, actually a rather weak, run-of-the-mill police series. I'm going to start watching the old Bergerac again, because this is truly weak, limp fare...
