Äkta Människor plot

What would happen if robots got almost exactly the same appearance as humans? If they can even become lovers? This series takes place in a parallel world, where human life is completely changed by a new generation of robots - Hubots. Leo and Niska lead a group of rebellious Hubots fighting for their independence. During an escape, Leo's beloved Mimi disappears and he leaves the group to find her. At the same time, the Engman family decides to purchase a second-hand Hubot, something that will lead to unexpected results for them. Department store manager Roger's life is shattered when his wife leaves him for her Hubot lover. He sees that all his employees are Hubots and decides to start a movement against the advancing Hubots.

Fijne Zweedse SF-serie die onderwerpen aansnijdt als ethiek tegenover vergevorderde robotica en wat maakt ons eigenlijk tot menselijke subjecten. De grootste attractie is de waanzinnige make-up van de hubots. Ze zijn allemaal even schitterend ontworpen als een soort ongenaakbare mensen die zowel fascineren als angst inboezemen. Wel jammer dat er iets te geforceerd geprobeerd is om er een thriller-element in te krijgen. Het ene moment worden er diepzinnige zijspoortjes aangesneden die op zichzelf best interessant zijn, maar die vervolgens nergens toe leiden omdat er iets spannends moet gebeuren.

Nice Swedish SF series that broaches topics like ethics versus advanced robotics and what actually makes us human subjects. The biggest attraction is the crazy make-up of the hubots. They are all equally brilliantly designed as a kind of unapproachable people who both fascinate and instill fear. It's a pity that there is something too forced to try to get a thriller element in it. One minute there are profound sidetracks that are interesting in their own right, but then lead nowhere because something exciting has to happen.
