Korea, the 1980s. Award-winning actress Jeong Hee-ran declines the lead role in the film "Madame Aema" after reading a script full of provocative scenes. In her place comes Shin Ju-ae, an ambitious actress who auditions for the role Hee-ran rejected. She immediately captures everyone's attention with the bold declaration that she wants to be "the next Jeong Hee-ran." In the male-dominated industry, the women must contend with producer Ku Jung-ho, who uses Hee-ran's contract to get her to star in a supporting role, and director Kwak In-u, who pours his heart and soul into his first film.
