Under the direction of director Martin Scorsese, the seven-part TV series The Blues was created. A series in which seven famous directors with a passion for music paint a personal picture of blues music. In addition to Scorsese herself, Charles Burnett, Clint Eastwood, Mike Figgis, Marc Levin, Richard Pearce and Wim Wenders capture the essence of blues music in films that trace the music movement from its African origins through its influence on virtually all contemporary music. The episodes feature rare archival footage from the likes of Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Willie Dixon, John Lee Hooker, Bo Diddley, Eric Clapton and many others.
