Documentary series investigating how the Netherlands, and specifically Brabant, grew over forty years into the global heart of ecstasy production. For the first time, producers, dealers, and law enforcement officials speak openly about the enormous money flows and the cutthroat world behind this industry. The series starts with the emergence of the phenomenon in the 1980s. It zooms in on the perfect symbiosis between the rise of house music and the new drug ecstasy. It shows how production began in simple pigstalls and sheds, but was able to expand thanks to a unique infrastructure and logistical networks into a global export network to cities such as Tokyo, Tel Aviv, and Mexico.
