Zwei Seiten des Abgrunds plot

During a police operation in a hardware store in Wuppertal, policewoman Luise Berg suddenly sees him: Dennis Opitz. The man convicted of murdering her then 17-year-old daughter Merle has now been released from prison early. Yet she hardly recognizes him. In the meantime, the formerly overweight, taciturn outsider has become an attractive and self-confident young man. He has apparently used his time in prison to come to terms with his past and is considered rehabilitated. But that is soon doubted. When more murders occur, Luise investigates Dennis' dark past and discovers that the seemingly reformed young man is out for a vendetta.
