Top series and the French doesn't bother anywhere, just like other series with a non-English language (La casa de papel, vis a vis, the Bridge etc ..) in fact, I would only like to see it in the original language. Story is strong and well cast. The series looks easy and Omar Sy plays sublimely as the gentleman criminal. I can't wait for the next 5 episodes.

I like coming to France, I have a thing for the country, but French series never really appealed to me. Where the cinéma francais could convince me early on with films by Eric Rohmer and actresses such as Isabelle Huppert, I have found series to be disappointing for years. Admittedly, I haven't seen them all. But Engrenages, Braquo, Les Témoins, and half a dozen others, hardly ever scored much more than a narrow pass. Or less. The same goes for Lupine's S1.
Assane Diop (Omar Sy) is gentlemen thief Lupine. At least the story is based on the 1905 book by Maurice Leblanc and Diop has read the book front to back and takes all his inspiration from it. The story is thin, and the adventures obligatory and grotesque. That is a bit part of this type of series, but Diop seems to get away with everything as a kind of Houdini. Villains are one-dimensional and La Police operates un peu ridicule. The story, in all its inconsistencies and inconsistencies, is not inferior to an average Bollywood film. Or as they say in France: Frollywood.
This drama-crime-comedy relies heavily on Omar Sy. Who doesn't know him as a teddy bear from Les Intouchables? In Lupine he plays a similar, amiable role and does it excellently. So if you like a fast-paced series in a mélange of styles, with an über-likable main character and a scenario that doesn't have too much depth, Lupin is right for you.

Sympathetic, often funny and sometimes quite exciting series about gentleman burglar Assane Diop (Omar Sy), whose crimes slowly but surely unfold as an ingenious plan for revenge. Halfway through things collapse and the plot feels quite stretched (ten episodes were really not necessary), but towards the end things are fortunately made up for. Sy is excellent in the lead role and he sees himself surrounded by a fine cast. The series also looks very neat and especially opulent, with a nice use of the beautiful locations in and around Paris.
