La Piovra plot
Police inspector Corrado Cattani and his family are transferred to the island of Sicily, which has long been a hotbed of mafia practices. When Cattani uncovers a major drug smuggling operation, he is threatened from all sides by the mafia organization Octopus, which seems to control everyone on the island. Cattani doesn't know who to trust, yet he continues his fight against the underworld.

The first season is good but not as good as the next one. The Music here is still by Riz Ortalani.
Placido immediately impresses as an Inspector who has to deal with not only the mafia but also a complex marriage.
