Inspector George Gently plot
George Gently is about an old-fashioned Scotland Yard detective who, in the 1960s, tries to reconcile with the fact that the line between police officer and criminal is becoming increasingly blurred. He is one of the few who still consider it his duty to serve the country. It is 1964, the eve of the sexual revolution. The increase in drug use will significantly change the work of the police. George Gently hires the young ambitious Detective Sergeant Bacchus in Northumberland for the first case. But can he be trusted? How honest is he?

Nice ending to a series that excelled in capturing the era and chemistry between the characters, where the interaction between Shaw and Ingleby got better and better and came to a good climax in this season. Too bad Shaw got too old for the series (as he said himself he didn't want to play an elderly police officer) because he has a lot of charisma and always plays with a lot of flair, something that is lacking in many English detectives.
