Dublin Murders plot

This series is set during the height of Ireland's financial boom, dubbed 'Celtic Tiger'. The story revolves around two murder investigations led by ambitious and charismatic detectives Rob Reilly and Cassie Maddox. The victims - a young talented ballerina who is found dead on an old stone altar; and a vivacious free-spirited woman, who is found in a dilapidated cottage - seem to have nothing to do with each other. But appearances threaten...

Dublin Murders season 1

Fine British thriller drama set in and around Dublin. Creator and screenwriter Sarah Phelps (A Very English Scandal) adapted Tana French's books into a clever and exciting psychological drama. The kick-off is immediately intriguing: a murder in 2006 (in which the series is set) resembles a 1985 disappearance case of three teenagers and raises all kinds of questions. What about that one surviving teen from 1985? What is going on between the detective duo Rob and Cassie? Why does Rob have nightmares? Who is that roommate?

Several storylines run in parallel, including flashbacks, so keep your attention. Lots of atmosphere, beautiful landscapes, dark and mysterious forests, beautiful and human storylines and an excellent cast: I recognize a lot from what I found so attractive about the series Hidden. Harlan Coben's The Five also makes an emphatic contribution to this thriller bag in terms of theme and structure.
Since episodes six and seven are mainly set in an old country house and this storyline seems a bit far-fetched, Dublin Murders sinks in here. These episodes reminded me of those countless sleepy English detective series, of which just a little too many have appeared in recent decades. But don't worry: Dublin Murders gets away with it. Go see this hidden gem!
