The Change plot
Linda, a fifty-something working-class married mother, is having an existential crisis. She is convinced she is suffering from the onset of dementia, but Linda’s GP tells her it is in fact the menopause. Feeling empowered by this information, Linda decides to reclaim some of the time she has spent doing ‘invisible work’ over the past few years to do something for herself… for a change. Linda dusts off her old Triumph motorbike that she hasn’t ridden for thirty years, and sets off alone into the spectacular wilderness of the Forest of Dean – in search of identity, purpose and the tree she climbed as a child. Along the way, she meets an array of eccentric residents, including the infamous Eel Sisters, an angry local radio presenter and a mysterious man who lives in the forest with a wild boar. What could possibly go wrong?
