Mixed-ish plot
In mixed-ish, Rainbow Johnson recounts her experience growing up in a mixed-race family in the 1980s and the constant dilemmas they faced. Bow's parents Paul and Alicia decide to move from a hippie commune to the suburbs to better support their family. While her parents struggle with the challenges of their new lives, Bow and her siblings navigate a mainstream school where they are seen as neither black nor white. The experiences of this family highlight the challenges of finding one's own identity.
