Clan season 1

Strong Flemish series about the mysterious death of De Kloot, the little-loved husband of Goedele Goethals. When this came out in 2012, I immediately thought it was very good. This week I re-watched the series again, and despite some glitches that stand out to me, it still holds up well.

The cast is already something to write home about, with mainly female lead roles. Goedele has four sisters, each of whom hates her husband a lot. It should therefore come as no surprise that they have forged a few plots (one more bizarre than the other) to kill De Kloot. However, those plans always fail, and therein lies the tragic humor, another, unintended victim.

Clan didn't get a sequel, and it didn't make sense. The final episode is satisfying (only the ending, after Goedele's confession, comes across a bit too easy), everything comes together.

Of the five sisters, I particularly noticed Bibi, a role by Ruth Becquart. She wears an eye patch due to an accident, and is very reminiscent of the character Elle Driver from the Kill Bill films by Tarantino. Funny is the reference to those films, when in a certain scene she holds a DVD of one of the two films (I can't remember which one). Besides these leading roles, Dirk Roofthooft shines as De Kloot .
