Becker plot

Family physician John Becker works in the Bronx, New York. Margaret Wyborn is his very capable assistant and Linda is his less capable assistant, but she stays on because no one else wants to work with John. His best, and some say only, friend is blind Jake Malinak, who runs a newsagent. They meet regularly at Regina Kostas' nearby diner, who both attracts and repels John. Then there's Bob, the caretaker of the building where John lives, and who can be found regularly in the diner.
