Back to Life plot
Meet Miri Matteson. She has just returned to her hometown, a place she no longer recognizes. She returns to the dysfunctional house she involuntarily left as a teenager, with her parents with whom she can no longer have a conversation. Released from prison just after eighteen years, she is trying to find her way back into society. Miri is the ultimate young adult, a funny, endearing, but slightly strange woman who is determined to move on with her life after her violent past.

Back to Life is a British comedy drama created and written by Daisy Haggard. The six-part series is about Miri Matteson, played by BAFTA nominee Daisy Haggard (Breeders, Boat Story). Miri has spent 18 years in prison and is trying to get her life back on track - living with her parents. A heavy theme for a comedy. On the dividing line between poignant and funny, Back to Life is a sympathetic 6-part series. But Back to Life ticks off more heavy themes. And they are all treated with a feathery lightness. Perhaps a little too light-heartedly, because Back to Life hardly has any real impact on the viewer. Miri's constant smile hides just too much pain.
