It just keeps getting better! I continue to find the episodes too long-winded this season and some characters just too uninteresting. For example, Eleanor was hardly featured, while in the first season she was one of the strongest characters. In addition, I continue to find Silver an annoying man. Flint and Vane, on the other hand, were again brilliantly portrayed.
The writing keeps getting better and better. The stories are further explored and we also see Flint's past passing by. The focus is a little less on the action, but the action scenes that we are presented with are very well made. Especially the action scenes in the last episode come close to the season finales of, for example, Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead.
It could all be a little better, but I expect that I will not be disappointed in the coming seasons.

Better than last season in every way. More explosive shifts in loyalty and blood feuds. More bittersweet romances and friendships between lost souls. More psychopathic captains who don't care about one innocent life more or less. More flashbacks to the man James McGraw once was and the monster Captain Flint has become. More scheming and backroom dealings in the tavern. 'Black Sails' can be a bit long-winded at times, but the sparse action scenes never disappoint. Although I hope future seasons will feature more sea battles. Ironically, most of the action in 'Black Sails' takes place on land or in harbors.
