Those about to Die plot

During the height of the Roman Empire, the population became increasingly bored, restless and violent. The people are kept in line mainly by two things: free food and spectacular entertainment in the form of chariot races and gladiator fights. The games are so popular that they have become a national institution that provides millions of people - including animal catchers, horse breeders, gun makers and doctors - with a livelihood. The Roman economy is so dependent on their success that any attempt to end the games or limit their barbarism would mean certain economic collapse. Several people from all corners of the Roman Empire soon collide at the explosive intersection of sports, politics and dynasties.

Pfff, Valt dit even vies tegen. Ik denk dat sir Anthony Hopkins 90 % v/h hele budget heeft gekregen. Het begint al in de introscene dat de positie van het mes in de 2 shots niet klopt Dan heb je mij eigenlijk al. Zulke fouten in de eerste minuut. Checken ze dat dan niet bij het uitbrengen of is je budget al.op?? . Als er dan wordt geacteerd gaan je haren recht overeind staan. Echt van een laag B niveau, zelfs van de grote acteurs. Dan krijg je ook nog posters op de achtergrond te zien alsof je bij de plaatselijke theaterschool aan het kijken bent. En dan heb ik het nog geeneens gehad over de effecten en animaties uit de jaren 90. Nee dit is een teleurstelling. Ik heb het uit mijn to watch lijstje gehaald[

Had er wel iets meer van verwacht maar desalniettemin is het zeker geen slechte serie. Het speelt zich allemaal een beetje op dezelfde plek af en dat maakt het toch iets minder goed. Acteerwerk is wel prima. Het verhaal over die menners en over de familie die worden meegenomen is wel prima. Maar het pakt je toch niet egt. Er zitten zeker leuke en goede stukken in maar ook heel wat mindere. Magere 7.

I expected a bit more from it, but nevertheless it is certainly not a bad series. It all takes place in the same place and that makes it a little less good. The acting is fine. The story about those drivers and the family who are taken away is fine. But it doesn't really grab you. There are certainly nice and good parts in it, but also a lot of bad parts. Skinny 7.
