The Lost Room plot

Detective Joe Miller is handed a key that turns out to be rather important. Several obscure persons appear to be looking for this key. Miller discovers that the key fits a particular door of a room in a motel. But it turns out that this room is physically completely different from the rest of the world, in fact, it leads into a parallel universe. The room also offers space for some objects with magical powers, which are very popular with so-called 'object hunters'. When Miller's daughter is in danger, he must confide in these eccentric figures to find the right combination of objects.

Very interesting for the true mystery enthusiast. The series largely looked like playing a puzzle-adventure game and that was really crazy. The premise and setup are right up my alley. But, certainly not for everyone.
And well, this series is an example that multiple factors are needed to make something succeed. Story/plot, acting, direction. The story is great, but the rest is quite boring. With the exception of 1 or 2 characters, the acting is B-level, just like the portrayal. You have to be able to see through that, think of it as a low-budget TV movie. In that respect it reminded me of Feedback.
The ending was a bit disappointing. Apparently the makers didn't really know how to end it or even lift a glimpse of the veil. On certain fronts it seems like a kind of pilot.
Despite the somewhat bleakness, I had a great time with this mini-series, and would have liked to see a flashy remake of it. Rounded up because of the cool design.
