Off the Map plot

Welcome to 'la ciudad de las estrellas', a town in the South American jungle with an understaffed medical clinic. The young doctor Lily has just arrived there, along with her colleagues Mina and Manny. These young doctors are on the run from their inner demons, but they're not the only ones with emotional baggage. Take Ben, UCLA's youngest Chief of Surgery. He has turned his back on all that to found the clinic. Together with Doctor Otis Cole, he teaches the newcomers how to save lives in an extremely challenging environment.

Off The Map gaat over een aantal artsen van Artsen zonder grenzen. Hun post is midden in de jungle van een niet nader genoemd spaanstalig Zuid- Amerikaans land. Ze proberen hier de lokale bevolking zo goed mogelijk te helpen maar middelen zijn schaars en de problemen om hun heen groot. Daarnaast zeulen de artsen ook allemaal hun eigen problemen mee. Off The Map was een verrassend goede doktersserie met een unieke setting helaas sloeg de serie niet zo aan bij het grote publiek maar dat is onterecht. Natuurlijk was niet alles even goed maar bijna iedere serie heeft in zijn eerste seizoen dat het op zoek is naar zijn eigen identiteit. Misschien was het gebrek aan een bekend gezicht wel het grootste manco. De cast bestond uit bij het grote publiek vrijwel onbekende bijrolacteurs als Jason George die ik ken als de rapper Status Quo in de comedyserie Off Centre en Valerie Cruz die een bijrol had in Dexter maar een echt ankerpunt ontbrak. De serie is gecancelled na 1 seizoen en eindigt hij met een cliffhanger die nooit opgehelderd wordt helaas.

Off The Map is about a number of doctors from Doctors Without Borders. Their post is in the middle of the jungle of an undisclosed Spanish-speaking South American country. They try to help the local population as best as possible, but resources are scarce and the problems around them are great. In addition, the doctors also all carry their own problems. Off The Map was a surprisingly good doctor's series with a unique setting, unfortunately the series did not catch on with the general public, but that is unjustified. Of course, not everything was equally good, but almost every series has in its first season that it is looking for its own identity. Perhaps the biggest flaw was the lack of a familiar face. The cast included supporting actors, almost unknown to the general public, such as Jason George who I know as the rapper Status Quo in the comedy series Off Center and Valerie Cruz who had a supporting role in Dexter but lacked a real anchor point. The series was canceled after 1 season and ends with a cliffhanger that will never be cleared up unfortunately.
