In the year 2030 there are many cyborgs living in Japan; people with prosthetic limbs or other body parts. Public Security Section 9, a crime-fighting special-ops organization with (cyborg) members such as Major Matoko and Batou, investigates a series of crimes while becoming entangled in corrupt ramifications of the Japanese government.
