Chilling Adventures of Sabrina plot
Sabrina's sixteenth birthday is approaching. This half-witch half-humanoid teenager has been looking forward to that moment all her life. But then something strange comes her way, which has to make her decide between living in the light or living in the darkness. Sabrina must choose between her family's witch world and her friends' human world. Meanwhile, she battles evil that endangers her friends and her family.

I used to love watching the original Sabrina series. As a result of this series I looked again on youtube for a "highlights" compilation, but that series no longer appeals to me at all. Just way too bland. So interesting to hear that this Sabrina series would get much darker.
Indeed, this series has quite a foreboding atmosphere and there are several events that are quite terrifying and/or lurid. Very positive. Sabrina herself is an interesting character, who fights diligently against various abuses and then it is a huge anticlimax that in the last episode she seems to completely surrender to the devil, whom she previously wanted to fight. It feels like character assassination, also considering how lascivious she seems to be during the last few minutes.
Cinematic far from great. For some reason, the director has chosen to focus only on the center of the image, the edges are often out of focus. This is really annoying and causes a big deduction of points.
So on the one hand, a nice atmosphere, but on the other hand, shot pretty badly, so I would normally end up with something like 2.5*. Of course the ending already sorts out for a second season, but this season I can only judge on its own and in light of what I've seen, this season's conclusion is quite disappointing, for which I deduct half a half. 2* so.
