Gypsy plot

Jean Halloway is a therapist from Manhattan, New York. Her life seems perfect; she has a thriving practice and is married to Michael. However, Jean has intimate and dangerous relationships with the people in the lives of the patients she treats. The boundaries between her private and professional life begin to blur and she finds herself in a world where the forces of lust and reality threaten to collide in a disastrous way.

Aardige serie met uiteraard een uitstekende rol van Naomi Watts (ze draagt het geheel met gemak). Eem origineel verhaal dat wel te lang door gaat en het einde is in vergelijking met de rest van de serie te afgeraffeld.

Nice series with of course an excellent role by Naomi Watts (she carries the whole thing with ease). An original story that goes on for too long and the ending is too rushed compared to the rest of the series.

Een psychotherapeute met een zekere mate van bindingsangst en verveling met haar huwelijksleven raakt geobsedeerd met het leven van bepaalde cliënten van haar. Zo erg dat ze zich actief ermee gaat bemoeien. Interessant idee en concept. Ook de uitwerking is prima en de cast levert goed werk af. Met het enigszins langzame tempo vd ontwikkelingen had ik geen moeite en vond ik niet storend. Er wordt gewoon de tijd genomen om alles te vertellen. Waar ik wel vreselijk veel moeite mee heb is het einde: het zwakste deel vd serie. Vooral omdat er geen seizoen 2 is gemaakt. Vraag me af waarom eigenlijk niet; de recensies die ik gelezen heb waren voornamelijk positief. En het was zeker geen flop.

A psychotherapist with a degree of commitment anxiety and boredom with her married life becomes obsessed with the lives of some of her clients. So much so that she is actively involved in it. Interesting idea and concept. The execution is also good and the cast does a good job. With the somewhat slow pace of development I had no trouble and did not find it disturbing. They just take the time to tell you everything. What I do have a lot of trouble with is the ending: the weakest part of the series. Especially since no season 2 was made. Wonder why not; the reviews I read were mostly positive. And it certainly wasn't a flop.

Wat een oervervelende serie, het beste slaapmiddel ooit voor mij, even opzetten en heerlijk slapen. Zelfs Watts kan deze ellende niet redden. Er gebeurt gewoon niet genoeg. Ik raad Fervet eens aan om Gypsy review in te tikken bij Google en dan te zien dat de meeste het maar niets vinden en terecht. De reden waarom er geen tweede seizoen is, is duidelijk, er was gewoon niet genoeg boeiend verhaal aanwezig en de meeste kenners vond het eerste seizoen al doffe ellende....

What a terribly annoying series, the best sleeping aid ever for me, just put it on and sleep well. Not even Watts can save this misery. There just isn't enough happening. I advise Fervet to type Gypsy review into Google and then see that most people don't like it and rightly so. The reason why there is no second season is clear, there just wasn't enough interesting story and most connoisseurs thought the first season was already dull misery....
