A season that, in my opinion, has somewhat larger peaks and deeper troughs than the previous season. There are some brilliant episodes like Two Cars in Every Garage and Three Eyes on Every Fish and One Fish, Two Fish, Blowfish, Blue Fish, both happen to be episodes where fish have a play a role, but there is an episode like Itchy & Scratchy & Marge, where the conclusion is too easy. Bart vs. Thanksgiving is surprisingly dramatic. Interesting. In the end, I give this season the same rating as the last. 3*.

There are a few changes compared to the first season. The title sequence was shortened to avoid zapping. Homer's voice is a bit deeper and funnier. He now regularly says "doh!" and sometimes there is a "zoom in" on his forehead while he is thinking out loud. New characters include Kent Brockman, Groundskeeper Willie and Ralph Wiggum, but they will become more important later.
The Simpsons are at their best when the family members make a fruitless attempt to change something. Homer wants to be a better husband; Marge speaks out against senseless violence on TV; Bart wants to do better at school; and Lisa wants to live by the Ten Commandments. Their powerlessness makes them human.
Favorite episodes: 1, 8, 9, 11, 13.
