The Shooter series is the stretched version of the film of the same name. Bob Lee Swagger (Ryan Philippe) is a decorated US sniper at rest. Until he is asked to do a job where the American president appears to be the target of an attack. We don't do it for less, and prevention is better than cure. What follows is a The Fugitive/Rambo-esque story with a small dose of American Sniper mixed in. In Shooter a number of scenes are set in Afghanistan.

It is not original; crime suspect man on the run to find out the truth. Shooter isn't very good either. I expect more: more tension, much better acting (Philippe acts here at b-level) and above all more depth. It's all one-dimensional, and the weapon worship is annoying too. Bob's wife is played by Shantel VanSanten, and although she can't do much with her role, you can already see some of her class as she shows it in For All Mankind. Cynthia Addai-Robinson's acting is also a rare highlight. The scenario is smooth and the series in general looks easy.

In short: Shooter does not live up to my expectations. For genre fans, on the other hand, this series is gefundenes Fressen.

Nice series about an ex-marine who is framed. A fairly worn out theme.

Decent pace. The view through the sniper finder is fun and reminiscent of video games.

I find it very illogical that Swagger is forgiving when dear innocents are killed.

And it is quite a coincidence that the enemy always runs into Swagger's fire. And Swagger always makes the best choices like he's psychic. He seems super intelligent.

In short, the hero is spared too much.

I was also annoyed by Swagger's daughter. How many times does she say "I love you daddy/mummy." With a whining Donald Duck voice.

The other actors do it to their ability.

On to series 2.
