A fun, highly entertaining BBC series about the work of midwives and nuns in an Anglican convent in the deprived Poplar neighborhood of London's East End in the late 1950s. The first episode is a bit awkward and doesn't quite strike the right tone, but it immediately picks up. Likeable characters, a fine balance of humor and drama, and a beautifully captured picture of the times.
