The overture of the third season begins full of tension and drama aboard the space hotel Polaris. For All Mankind is ahead of its time, or rather, this alternate history sets one giant leap for mankind. S3 is set in the early 1990s. Not only will we be able to celebrate our wedding in space (note the symbolic scene with the wedding cake), there are also advanced plans for a manned trip to Mars. Forget Elon Musk's SpaceX, or China's plans for Mars in 2033; in For All Mankind we are on the cusp of distant space adventures.
For All Mankind has a great screenplay. In a perfect mix of drama, action, suspense, political machinations and personal tragedies, the actors deliver top performances here. Starring Margo Madison (Wrenn Schmidt) as director of NASA. What makes For All Mankind so contemporary are the diversity themes, which are cleverly, but very thick, woven into the lively and well-arranged story. A wonderful storyline is the competition with the Russian Federation (the Soviet Union that collapsed in 1991), referring to The Americans.
For All Mankind is a top series about the spacerace from a past that is still far ahead.

From season three onwards, the series unfortunately becomes too bombastic, exaggerated, unrealistic and rather contrived, which is a bit irritating after the stronger first two seasons. However, fans of previous seasons will also appreciate this one again; a trip to Mars of course compensates for a lot.
