Still the worst season but still well deserved 4*
This season continues with the showdown between Walt and Jesse and drug lord Tuco. However, when Tuco is dead, the series takes a step back from all the violence. The season therefore leans more towards the personal problems of the White family (and Jesse) and less towards the drug trade. Not necessarily a bad thing, but I think that's why most people don't like this season a bit. The quality is still sky high.
This season sees the introduction of some much loved characters: Gus, Mike and of course Saul Goodman. With the exception of the latter, these characters remain quite far in the background. Nice to see on a second viewing how these characters were slowly introduced.
The biggest downside is the end of the season, which is already being worked towards in a flashforward from episode Seven Thirty-Seven. Jane is dead, her father is mourning and has a plane explode right over Walt's house ... serious?

Breaking Bad is already so consistently high here that I find it difficult to give a very accurate figure of sec this season. Most brilliant here are the introductions of very special characters, such as Saul and Gus. And in this respect, creator Vince Gilligan is the gift that keeps giving in a very positive sense. The tragedy of Jane's father (and the impact on Jesse) also made an impression.
I disagree with the criticism of Skyler. Some viewers may identify too much with liegebeest Walter. She just senses that he's lying that he's cracking, he's not particularly good at it either (actually very well acted by Cranston, a bit that clumsy). And with that, her passive aggressive behavior is quite understandable.
This season stands out because of a large number of special intros with wonderfully bizarre scenes, which are often only made clear to the viewer later. Jesse's bouncing lowrider is used in a hilarious way, for example.
The series remains a unique combination of sometimes dry, sometimes absurd humor with drama, tension, colorful characters and a beautiful wild setting. I am now watching the whole series for the second time and I can still really enjoy it. Nothing feels like stuffing or idle chatter. Breaking Bad deserves all the kudos it gets.
