From Dusk till Dawn: The Series plot

Seth Gecko and his violent, unpredictable brother, Richard "Richie" Gecko, are wanted by the FBI and Texas Ranger Freddie Gonzalez. The brothers have caused a bloodbath after a robbery at a bank. Among the dead are civilians, law enforcement officers and Texas Ranger Earl McGraw, Gonzalez's mentor. On their way to the Mexican border, the brothers are chased by Gonzalez. Drug lord Don Carlos leads them to a strip club populated by vampires, all of whom must fight until dawn to survive.

Heb het hoge aanzien van de film nooit echt begrepen. Geinig vermaak, maar hoogstaand vond ik de film niet. Dat zelfde geld voor deze serie... Leuk om te zien, maar nergens meer dan dat. Hier en daar wordt het verhaaltje een beetje te lang uitgerekt om aan een tiental episodes te komen. Vanaf episode 5 (waar ze eindelijk Mexico betreden) wordt het wat leuker. De cast is leuk, met bekende koppen als Jake Busey, Robert Patrick, Don Johnson, William Sadler en James Remar. Richie en Seth groeien als personage en worden beiden prima vertolkt door Zane Holtz en D.J. Cotrona. Ook sexmachine vond ik leuk neergezet door Jake Busey. Wel verassend dat we nog geen kleine cameo's hebben gezien uit de film (Tom Savini, Quentin Tarantino etc.). Tarantino en Rodriguez is natuurlijk één pot nat en ook hier zit elke aflevering vol verwijzingen naar andere films. Wel jammer is het vaak overmatige gebruik van zeer beroerde CGI. Daar had ik toch wat meer van verwacht. Geen top serie dus, maar de film vond ik ook nooit echt top. Geinige characters met een aardige cast (al lijkt die in seizoen 2 nog leuker te worden). Alles duurt echter net wel ff wat te lang vind ik (na een aflevering of vier had ik de tombes ook wel gezien). Eens zien wat seizoen 2 te bieden heeft.

Never really understood the high esteem of the film. Good entertainment, but I didn't like the movie. The same goes for this series... Nice to see, but nowhere more than that.

Here and there the story is stretched a bit too long to get to a dozen episodes. From episode 5 (where they finally enter Mexico) it gets a bit more fun. The cast is fun, with headlines like Jake Busey, Robert Patrick, Don Johnson, William Sadler and James Remar. Richie and Seth grow as characters and are both played well by Zane Holtz and DJ Cotrona. I also liked sexmachine portrayed by Jake Busey. Surprisingly, we haven't seen any small cameos from the movie (Tom Savini, Quentin Tarantino, etc.) yet. Tarantino and Rodriguez is of course one pot wet and here too every episode is full of references to other films. A pity is the often excessive use of very bad CGI. I expected a bit more from that.

Not a great series, but I never really liked the movie either. Funny characters with a nice cast (although it seems to get even more fun in season 2). However, everything takes just a bit too long in my opinion (after about four episodes I had also seen the tombs). Let's see what season 2 has to offer.

Tito & Tarantula - After Dark is dat, zo wel als in de film tijdens Salma Hayek's dans scene als de openingstune voor deze serie. Ik vond de serie beetje tegenvallen. De eerste eps zijn meer een saai en uitgerekte versie van de eerste film.. Dan verloopt het verhaal anders maar het is allemaal zo duidelijk er bij verzonnen om het verhaal over te kunnen brengen naar het serie platform dat het je allemaal niet echt pakt.. Dan hadden ze beter meer geld kunnen stoppen in de 2 waardeloze vervolgen op de geniale 1e film...dan het hier in te verspillen.. wel grappig om Fez als een bad ass vampier te zien, haha

Tito & Tarantula - After Dark is that, as well as in the movie during Salma Hayek's dance scene as the opening tune for this series.

I found the series a bit disappointing. The first eps are more of a boring and stretched version of the first movie.. Then the story changes but it's all so obviously made up to be able to transfer the story to the series platform that it doesn't really grab you at all..

They would have been better off putting more money into the 2 crappy sequels to the brilliant 1st movie...than wasting it here...

kinda funny to see Fez as a bad ass vampire haha
