Over the last decade, Netflix has become a juggernaut in the entertainment business.
What started off as a company that rented DVDs to customers via post, it evolved into a streaming service which eventually started producing its own movies.
The first fully-funded project from Netflix was the television series, House of Cards.
According to official numbers from Netflix, the most successful movie in the history of the platform is Red Notice which has been streamed for over 453 million hours.
An action comedy, it stars Ryan Reynolds, Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot. A sequel is in the works, too.
In second place is arguably the most star-studded movie on our list in Don't Look Up. Directed by Adam McKay, it features Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Jonah Hill, Meryl Streep, Timothee Chalamet, Mark Rylance and Ariana Grande.
In third is the only franchise movie on our list, Glass Onion, which is part of the Knives Out series. In March of 2021, it was announced that Netflix had purchased the rights for two Knives Out sequels for $469m, with Rian Johnson returning to direct and Craig returning as Benoit Blanc for both.
Making up the top five is The Gray Man and The Adam Project.
