Since the first Kung Fu Panda was released in 2008, the franchise has become a media juggernaut, spanning movies, television shows, video games and toys.
The three movies produced so far grossed $631m, $665m and $521m respectively so it is a money-making behemoth for Dreamworks.
The plot of the franchise surrounds Po Ping, a giant panda, an unlikely hero chosen as the new Dragon Warrior who becomes a master of Kung Fu.
The official premise for Kung Fu Panda 4 reads:
'Po is gearing up to become the spiritual leader of his Valley of Peace, but also needs someone to take his place as Dragon Warrior. As such, he will train a new kung fu practitioner for the spot and will encounter a villain called the Chameleon who brings villains from the dead.'
