Matthew Perry was reportedly keen on producing a biopic about his life which would have seen Zac Efron take on the lead role.
The pair worked together on 17 Again, playing a younger and older version of the same man.
Perry tragically passed away this week after drowning in a jacuzzi at his home.
There was no foul play involved.
The news comes as a devastating blow to his family, friends and the millions of fans Friends, one of the greatest sitcoms in history.
Perry became a comedy legend thanks to his role as the sharp-witted Chandler Bing, who became a generational character. His memoir, Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing, was released towards the end of last year.
In it, he detailed his troubles with drug addiction, alcoholism and depression.
One of the last people to spend time with Perry was model and entertainment reporter Athenna Crosby, who revealed to People that the Friends star “wanted to make a movie about his life and have a biopic made and wanted Zac Efron, who's played him already, to play him again because he said he did such a good job.”
The pair had dinner together, and Crosby also testified to Perry's sobriety and strong mental health during their conversation.
