The first movie, directed by Denis Villeneuve, told the story of Paul Atreides (Timothee Chalamet) whose family, the House Atreides, are thrust into a war for the deadly and inhospitable desert planet Arrakis.
The cast included Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Zendaya, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, David Dastmalchian, Chang Chen, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Charlotte Rampling, Jason Momoa, and Bardem.
Dune Part One included the plot of around half of the epic novel written by Frank Herbert, while Part Two will focus on the second half.
Fans of the book will understandably be aware of how the plot will develop, but Bardem has promised surprises nonetheless.
"II think they’ve done an amazing job of putting together the pieces in a way that is going to surprise people," Bardem previously said at Cannes.
"They won’t be surprised , obviously, because they’ve read the book, but they’ll be surprised by the way they put it together.
"I was very moved by it. It’s a movie that is full, and you can feel the weight of it, and at the same time the spectacularity of it. to go back to the desert with those people, and I’m so happy to go back with Denis, who is one of the greatest directors ever."
Villeneuve has previously hinted at a third movie potentially being produced which will be an adaptation of the novel's sequel, Dune Messiah.
