Reacher star Alan Ritchson has recalled his failed audition for Thor.
At the beginning of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Chris Hemsworth earned the role of Thor and the actor subsequently hit superstardom after appearing in various projects in the MCU.
Several actors were linked with Thor before Hemsworth was cast including Alexander Skarsgård, Paul 'Triple H' Levesque, Tom Hiddleston, Liam Hemsworth and Daniel Craig.
And, an unknown star by the name of Alan Ritchson also auditioned.
“I didn’t take it seriously,” he told Men's Health. “I was like, ‘They’ll throw me the part if I look like the guy; nobody really cares about acting.’ ”
They did care about acting, and Ritchson's agent was told the actor "didn't have the craft."
Ritchson would go on to appear in a couple of comic book properties - Aquaman in Arrow and Hawkman in Titans.
Alan Ritchson wants to play Batman
Ritchson previously commented on the rumours surrounding Bruce Wayne.
The new Batman movie, titled The Brave and the Bold, will feature the live-action debut of Damien Wayne, Batman's son who is initially introduced as a villain but eventually becomes Robin. In this Caped Crusader story, Bruce Wayne had a child with Talia al Ghul whom he was not told about for years.
Robert Pattinson plays Bruce in The Batman, but he will not reprise the role for The Brave and the Bold, which has led to speculation as to who might don the cowl, and some fans have been dream casting Ritchson.
"The fact that people are interested in me playing Batman is a real honor and privilege," the Fast X and Jack Reacher actor told the Post Cred Podcast. "It's one of the first characters I fell in love with as a child: I still remember the big, long pistol coming out of Joker's pants as he goes to shoot down the Batplane.
"Those iconic moments really resonated with me as a child. For there to even be a conversation or a rumour mill surrounding this role, for me… all I can do is laugh. I just think it’s wild that’s where we are. I would love to. I would absolutely love to (play Batman)."
