The military denies the request for protection of engineer Bill Butler, who is tasked with building a transcontinental telegraph link for the Western Telegraph Company. Captain Rogers of the Arizona Rangers therefore appoints Eddie Dean, Stormy Day and Soapy Jones to guard Butler's project. Outlaw Drake Dawson fears the construction of a telegraph link will put an end to his lawless activities in Preston City. His henchmen Rocky, Half-Breed Constable and Cactus deliberately kill buffalo to get the local Indians to revolt against the arrival of the 'Western Telegraph Company'.
