The Prairie plot
"THUNDERING with ADVENTURE and THRILLS!"
Religious fanatic Ishmael Bush is determined to find land where he will be able to make his own rules. Ishmael therefore leaves Kentucky with his wife and five sons to go to unexplored territory in the new state of Louisiana. Asa Bush, the eldest son of Ishmael, and his uncle Abiram Wite rescue Ellen Wade from the Indians. Ishmael allows Ellen to travel with them. The company faces enormous difficulties along the way, such as the scorching sun, seas of scorched grass, thirst and hunger. Paul Hover, a stranger and government mapmaker, eventually leads the party to water. Meanwhile, all the sons of Ishmael and Uncle Abiram have fallen in love with Ellen. However, Ellen is in love with Paul Bush. Conflicts because of Ellen are inevitable.
