The Last Trail plot
"Zane Grey's Whirlwind Story of the Plains"
Tom Dane is the man who saves Joe Pascal and his wife from an Indian attack. Pascal later becomes sheriff and has named his son after Tom in gratitude and the man has to deal with a gang that robs stagecoaches. Tom comes to the rescue in a robbery, but Pascal dies; he entrusts his son to Tom.
