Landrush plot
"THE DURANGO KID AT HIS ROUGHEST TOUGHEST BEST!"
Steve Harmon arrives in Border Plain to explore an area known as the 'Spur'. However, soon to be released to settlers and adjacent to the Caleb Ranch, the Spur is home to a band of outlaws led by Claw Hawkins. Hawkins is the prime suspect in the murder of a rider of the 'Pony Express'. Hawkins' gang vandalizes the office of newspaper publisher Jake Parker, but they lose a marked $100 bill belonging to a shipment of the murdered Pony Express rider. Jake finds this bill and hands it to Sheriff Tim Collins and Steve Harmon. Steve goes incognito as 'The Durango Kid' to kidnap Claw Hawkins. After the kidnapping, The Durango Kid hides Hawkins in his old friend Smiley Burnette's barn. Meanwhile, Hawkins' gang, with the help of rancher Caleb Garvey, attacks the early settlers who want to settle in the Spur.
