When Jesse James (Roy Rogers) learns that Phineas Kraeger (Pierre Watkin) is cheating on the new immigrants, his gang is robbing trains in order to "earn" enough money to buy up large amounts of land, he tries to stop this as soon as possible. . What he doesn't know, however, is that the gang is using a doppelgänger of James, Clint Burns, to stir up trouble among the newcomers.
