After inheriting his late father's huge cattle ranch, Will Keough wants nothing more than to do his job in peace and to live in peace, but this is made impossible by the tense situation in his own family. Will's two younger brothers, Bless and Hade, have characters as different as night and day. Convinced that he was responsible for his father's death, Bless refuses to use weapons and is therefore considered a coward. Hade, on the other hand, is wild and brash, an accident is literally just around the corner. The grim and merciless mother Hannah, who has a soft spot for Bless, only exacerbates the situation between the brothers. In addition, Will's girlfriend Audry Niven is also attracted to the sensitive Bless. Eventually the mutual relations escalate; which of the Keough brothers will survive?
