It is 1863, during the American Civil War. The cruel and hated Confederate Captain Roper is tasked with guarding a group of Confederate prisoners of war in the remote and Mescalero Apache-threatened Fort Bravo, Arizona. When one day the very attractive Carla Forester visits the fortress, she wins Roper's sympathy. However, Carla is on a secret mission that includes John Marsh, the captured Confederate captain.
